I rely on this shop exclusively to keep my 1983 Dodge 400 "pet" in top operating condition. In January 2012 the car had a particularly elusive overheating situation that resulted in it being towed to the shop. The problem turned out to be a diode in a relay which protects the air conditioning from power surges from the radiator fan and the radiator fan from power surges from the air conditioning. The relay tests normal unless the diode itself is tested. They found this problem, made the necessary replacements, and had the car back to me in three days, and in the process demonstrated that the special attention my car needs was continuing to be provided by a new generation of mechanics and owners. I could tell that they had thoroughly studied the maintenance records of the car, which have been meticulously maintained. | |

There is always that fear of moving away from the dealer...especially with a European vehicle. That sour sting of disappointment. Well not here. For one, you get to talk with the tech and they will gladly show you what's going with your car. They will even test drive with you. And you don't have to wait forever to get an appointment. And for those bigger jobs, they have loaner cars that you can use free! | |

Nice Staff, Knowledgeable, Fair
I appreciate Bob's personal attention to my cars problems and for understanding my budget issues. I appreciate being offered alternatives. I have felt cornered and pressured at other shops. Bob got my Civic in quickly and had a man unbolt the wheels and then brought me to the car and showed me that the bell joints and brakes were shot. It was a little pricey to have it all done but Bob explained to me that if I had both repairs done at the same time that it would save me about $150.00 Because the labor for both jobs overlapped. I got a quote at another shop for the front brakes for a tad less than Bob's estimate but it did not include a brake fluid flush and the other guys made no mention of my bell joint problems at all!! Anyway, the Civic still has quite a few overdue maintanence issues that I will go back for when cashflow is better, but I know that the car is at least safe now. It stops well now and no more clunks. I will only let these guys work on my car from now on. Bob's techs have been with him for years and I now know the difference between, and the importance of, having a "career technician" as opposed to a entry level oil change guy inspecting my car.

Excellent Experience
This was my first visit to Econolube on 55th NE by the UVillage. I brought the car in at 4 fully expecting to have to leave it overnight. Here's what stood out to me:
Realizing I left my cell phone at work, Ken sent me off with his cell phone so that I could get something to eat but still be able to check in with them.
They went to Fremont to pick up the right parts, and stayed late to get the job done.
Offered great feedback on the work that was done, work that needed to be done in the future and how they got to their conclusions.

Being without a car can be inconvenient--Econo Lube helped me make it to my morning meeting while still dropping off my car at the shop. I checked in when they first opened, they drove with me to my meeting locale, and took the car back to the shop to assess and repair it. The store manager emailed me several scenarios for repair, describing by phone the pricing and urgency of each repair. This gave me the information I needed in order to decide how much work to have done at that time. All the guys at Econo Lube are good, honest bros. I started taking my van to them this summer for regular tune-ups and since then they've helped me get my high milage van running solid enough to take road trips to Colorado and Oregon, took on and completed a job on my serpentine assembly bracket that was a nightmare that nobody else wanted to touch. I brought my car in and was greeted with a warm welcome and a conversation about my car, not just "we'll take the key." Matthew was friendly and told me what they were going to do to check the brakes. An hour later, Matt called and said, "let's go back and take a look." Uh oh....I was ready for the worst. And was pleasantly surprised when Matt took a full 20 minutes to explain the process, what they found, what each part of my car was doing and why, and the best part of all was that he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need! It turned out I didn't need new brakes, and Matt was honest about this instead of telling me I did just for the money. I was so grateful, AND now I had an understanding of how my brakes worked! Great service & helpful staff
Had my 2001 Ford Explorer serviced by Eric and the team at Village AutoCare & Tires. They did a great job with both the basic service--oil, fluids, alignment, etc.--as well as a thorough inspection. During the inspection a few additional issues were identified (not surprising for a 12 y/o vehicle). The staff took time to walk through each issue in detail, answering my questions and providing additional background on the root causes. Eric assisted in addressing some minor safety concerns while keeping the work within budget. They even provided a free loaner vehicle for the day so that I could finish running errands while they worked on the Explorer.
Overall, I was very happy with the experience. The three things I most appreciated were:
(1) The shop's focus on preventative maintenance to address concerns while they are still minor (and less expensive to fix)
(2) The willingness to spend time delving into the details of the work
(3) The professionalism of the staff--light years beyond the typical JiffyLube or Les Schwab.
I would definitely recommend Village AutoCare and will be returning whenever I need additional work on my vehicle. | |

Turned out fantastic!
I had some miscellaneous work done, including replacing a motor mount due to some idle vibration. They identified and replaced a bad motor mount with a part they had in stock the same day. That was great. As it turns out, the vibration persisted and they found additional bad mounts but didn't have the parts that day, and I needed my car. Three months later, I had a friend get me a sweet deal on the new mounts, but when I dropped off the car for the discounted labor I was quoted, there was some debate about the price since they assumed they would be supplying the parts. Well, Ron put it to me this way: I could have taken it to a dealership for them to meticulously inspect every mount, which is hard to do on my car, apparently, and replace them whether they really needed to be replaced or not and pay three times the price, or I could deal with the inconvenience of bringing my car in twice. I figured he was right, but after calling around, I did find a couple of better quotes on the specific job I knew needed to be done. So when I relayed this to Ron, he pulled the right strings and called me back with an even better offer.
I was tempted to leave perfect stars and a spotless review, but I think the whole truth is even better. They're a business, and they have to pay their mechanics and watch that bottom line. But even if they've got you over a barrel, they won't do the wrong thing. Ron will go to bat for you and figure something out. And I now have a new mechanic! - Review by DemandForce.com | |

Not a quick oil change experience
They ultimately did a fine job, however if you are looking to get your oil changed quick - go somewhere else. Dropped by on a Saturday, only 1 car in the bay ahead of me - two hours later I was finally out the door.
They did tell me it would be about an hour...

The last time I went I noticed a huge drop in customer service. No one was at the front office when I walked in. I knocked on the door to their garage and no one came in for a few minutes. They could have at least acknowledged my presence. They didn't even know I had an appointment. They gave me an expected completion time in 1hr, saying it should be pretty quick (even though they clearly seemed busy and understaffed). I went to run errands closeby and they agreed to call me when done. One hour went by. Another 30 mins went by. I decided to call. They were done. Why didn't they call me? They said they were about to do that. I did not appreciate waiting for 1.5hrs to get just my oil changed and then not receiving a call. I would have preferred getting an honest estimate on time at the very beginning. That way, I would know exactly what to expect. An oil change is an oil change and I can get it done anywhere, but the raport you build with customers is invaluable and ensures that they return to your shop in the future for regular servicing, or even for larger/unexpected work.
